I’ve made a comment – why can’t I see it?

It can take time for your first comment to get online because we check it, then if everything’s OK, we’ll put it onto the website for everyone to see. After that first one, your comments should go straight onto the website (as long as you remember your login name and password!)

Why do you check my first comment?

We check everyone’s first comment because this helps us stop certain comments getting onto the website. Comments we don’t want include:

• spam (adverts sent out randomly to blogs and email addresses)
• comments that would offend someone
• comments that could be risky.

But how can you tell my comment won’t offend someone?

Alright, we can’t know for sure. Basically we want to make everyone feel welcome on this site, so don’t write bad swear words, insults, or comments that are hateful towards a person or group of people (eg racist, sexist or homophobic). Also keep it suitable for children and young people of all ages.

What kind of comment would be risky?

It’s risky to put your email addresses, postal addresses or phone numbers in comments because a stranger could use them to harass you. Also, it’s risky to use the real names of your school, teachers, other pupils or your family, because they might be annoyed about that. What does Enquire do with my email address?

We store it so you can login again. We will never never never put it on the website. We won’t give it to anyone else, unless you tell us something that makes us really worried about you. Then we would give it to someone whose job is to help you.
