What is Enquire?
Enquire is the Scottish independent advice and information service for additional support for learning (special educational needs). It is managed by Children in Scotland and funded by the Scottish Government.
What is additional support for learning?
Any child who needs more or different support to what is normally provided in schools or pre-schools is said to have ‘additional support needs’ and require additional support for learning. There are lots of reasons why children may need extra help with their education. Just a few examples may be:
Problems at home
A physical disability
Having English as an additional language
What services does Enquire provide?
The service offers advice and information by way of a telephone helpline and through written responses to email and enquiries via the website. We also produce a range of free publications and websites for parents, carers, practitioners and children and young people.
What standards does Enquire conform to?
Enquire works within the standards set out by the Telephone Helpline Association* and the Scottish Government's Children and Young People's Charter*
